God Bless Sally Hansen!

19 Jan
I’ve got to admit, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about moving down here with y’all….

Not that I didn’t want to be here. I’m with my family, and that is incredible. It’s just that…. well… I’m a Canadian and we’re just a different breed of people.

Our second “Bill or Rights” or “Charter of Freedom” states…

Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
(a) freedom of conscience and religion;
(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
(d) freedom of association.

Yours reads…

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

NOT that there’s anything wrong with that… ( I just want to put it out there.. because I DON’T want to make it onto any watch lists…. )

In Canada, EVERYONE is entitled to access to free health care. GOOD free health care. Heart surgeries are performed, life saving surgeries done in the thousands per month. And none of it comes out of pocket. Yes, we eventually pay for it, because our tax dollars cover it, but there is never a moment when a mother when a sick child sits wondering which should happen… take this child to the hospital, or feed the other 3.

Here… it’s different.

I am the first to admit that I don’t know as much as I should about American politics. I am ignorant to a lot of its workings. But… I know its different… and I’m not sure in a good way.

But there are other things that are different… less heavy subjects. Like…

There’s no Tim Hortons here… and as much as you may not know what you’re missing… it’s like heaven would be if it were in a coffee shop.

Swiss Chalet how I miss you. I don’t know if there’s anything here to even begin to compare it to… Boston Market according to McHubby.

Shoppers Drug MartWalgreens, CVS, with a little bit of target thrown in for good measure. Walking into its doors was like embracing an old friend. How I miss those warm friendly hugs, and those Optimum points.

Hockey, how I miss you. I can watch it here, but… there’s none of my favorite announcers, and aside from McHubby, no one to talk to about it. All I hear is Football this.. Football that. I don’t know 1st quarter 4th down for a hole in the wall.

But even though there are these things that are different, and different for me doesn’t always equal good, there are things that I never knew till I came here, and I have to say, my life is better for it…

Sally Hansen, how brilliant you are!! (Even if I had the idea LONG before this!) When I was in highschool, I used white out pens to draw on my nails. I always thought I was ahead of my time.. I love these, and already own 5!!

Meet Welches Grape Jelly….

Why did no one tell me such a thing exsisted?? It comes out like ketchup!!! We’ve made sammy after sammy with this already!!! I LOVE it, and can’t wait to see if they have more kinds when we grocery shop next!!

I ❤ American Products!!

    The fact that your first paragraph included the word ya'll leads me to believe you'll do just fine here. Just fine.

    Oh yeah, you'll do fine! You'll also discover that Welch's has strawberry jelly too! Yum!

    I've heard another Canadian talk about Tim Horton's. He told me that it was THE BEST coffee ever!

    I came here from Simone…and I'm laughing…Timmy's will make it that far south one of these days..bound to. And any time I've been to a Timmy's in the U.S. the sizes are MUCH bigger…but sizes in the U.S. are ginormous to what we have here in Canada. You'll do're finding all the goodies in the grocery store and you'll have Tar-jay down there somewhere…6 of 1, half a dozen of the other. The the health care? Oh yeah, you'll miss that!!!
